County Championship D1, Trent Bridge, day one (stumps) : Nottinghamshire 257-6 v LeicestershirePhil DeFreitas and Darren Maddy took three wickets each to get Leicestershire back into their basement tussle with Nottinghamshire.
The hosts appeared in complete control early as Darren Bicknell and Guy Welton shared a 132-run opening partnership.
But Maddy had Bicknell caught behind for 59 before DeFreitas added Welton for 60 and new batsman Kevin Pietersen in consecutive deliveries.
Maddy was back on hand to dismiss dangermen Chris Cairns and Chris Read but Bilal Shafayat fought back with his third half-century of a poor season.
The England Under-19 captain was 56 not out when bad light brought a close half and hour early.
