 Pintusevich-Block is aiming for World Indoor glory |
World 100m champion Zhanna Pintusevich-Block won the 60m on Thursday at the Athens IAAF indoor meeting and said she was aiming for glory at the world championships. The Ukranian won the sprint in 7.13 seconds, 0.08 ahead of Virgen Benavides of Cuba.
After the race she said she was feeling in good form.
"I feel pretty good. I have been working through this meet to prepare for the world championships, so considering everything I think it's okay," she said.
Block will participate in the world championships in Birmingham from 14-16 March. The event is being held at Birmingham Indoor Arena.
Portugal's Rui Silva won the men's 1500m in 3mins 36.86 seconds, ahead of France's Maazouzie Driss.
"I was here to try for the European record, but the race starts a little bit slow and my tactic then is to win," Silva said after the race.
In the women's pole vault, Russia's Elena Isinbayena won with a height of 4.65m, while compatriot Svetlana Feofanova came second with 4.60m.
In the women's 400m, Jamaica's Sandie Richards beat Russia's Natalia Antyuch winning in 52.39 seconds.
