Scotland beat Russia in their opening match at the World Men's Curling Championship in Canada.

Bruce Mouat's rink triumphed 8-2 during the first session of play in Lethbridge.

The Scots take on Switzerland and Netherlands on Sunday, with a tie against United States following on Monday.

Scotland last won the Men's World Championship in 2009, when they were skipped by David Murdoch.

Canada started with wins over Korea and Russia, while defending champions Sweden beat China 9-4.
