Sochi 2014: USA's David Wise wins first Olympic men's halfpipe

USA's David Wise created history by becoming the first Olympic champion in the freestyle skiing men's halfpipe.

Wise scored 92.00 in his first run to take gold in a discipline added to the Games programme ahead of Sochi.

The 23-year-old finished 1.40 points ahead of silver medallist Mike Riddle of Canada, with France's Kevin Rolland 2.00 further back in third place.

British pair Murray Buchan and James Machon failed to qualify after being eliminated in the preliminary round.

With the top 12 qualifying for the final, Buchan finished 17th and was six places ahead of team-mate Machon.
