Redruth: Cornwall club looking to extend winning run at Barnes

Redruth head coach Marek Churcher is wary of the challenge posed by Saturday's trip to struggling Barnes in National League Two South.

The Reds have taken 15 points from their last three games and are fourth, three points behind leaders Chinnor.

But Churcher told BBC Radio Cornwall that the London side must be respected.

"It's an important game and we have to prepare properly," he said. "It's not an easy place to go but we have started 2017 as we mean to go on."

Redruth came from behind to win 26-20 when the teams met at The Rec in October.

Barnes are 13th in the table but have rallied in recent weeks and are unbeaten in their last three matches.

And Churcher knows that his players must be mentally ready to deal with the unique surroundings of the Barn Elms ground in south-west London.

"We have slightly changed the way we prepare for this match and will travel on Friday," he said.

"It's a long way to go. It's in the middle of the city. And it's in the middle of a community park with about fifteen football pitches, two rugby pitches, and about thirty people watching."
