Hooker Pat MacArthur has signed a contract extension until May 2016 with Scottish Pro 12 side Glasgow Warriors.

Five of the 25-year-old's team-mates, including captain Al Kellock, agreed similar deals during December.

MacArthur said: "It's great playing my rugby here and it's great to be part of this squad.

"I'm a west coast boy and, having grown up playing rugby in the west, playing professionally for the Warriors is fantastic."

MacArthur, who first joined Warriors as a professional in 2009 after spells with Ayr and West of Scotland, realises that he faces a battle with Fin Gillies and Scotland international Dougie Hall for a starting place.

"We are all pushing each other to get better as players and I'm certainly no different," said the former Scotland Under-20 international.

"There is terrific competition for the number two shirt with Dougie and Fin, but it's about making the team as strong as it can be.

"I know I have to keep working hard on my game, keep looking at ways to improve if I'm to keep challenging for my place in the starting line-up."

Fellow front-row man Mike Cusack also committed himself to the Warriors last month along with Al Kellock, Tom Ryder, Tommy Seymour and Peter Murchie.
