Dodd extends Catalans deal before playing a game

Former St Helens scrum-half Lewis Dodd has signed a contract extension with Catalans Dragons before playing a game for the French club.

Dodd initially joined the Perpignan-based outfit on a one-year deal for the 2026 Super League season, but he will now remain in France for the following year.

The 23-year-old left Saints at the end of 2024 to head to South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NRL on a three-year-deal but only made six appearances before being released.

With Saints, Dodd won three Super League titles, the Challenge Cup and he kicked the winning drop goal in the 2023 World Club Challenge success over Penrith Panthers.

"I am delighted to extend Lewis for an extra year," said, external Dragons head coach Joel Tomkins.

"He has settled in really well in France and is already a very well-liked member of the squad. This signing gives us some consistency in an important position for the next couple of seasons."
