York sign Balmforth on loan and Sagaga for 2026

Denive Balmforth made 10 Super League appearances on loan at Catalans Dragons last season

York Knights have signed Hull FC hooker Denive Balmforth on a season-long loan as well as forward John Sagaga.
Balmforth, 22, made 11 appearances for the Black and Whites last season and also had a loan spell with Catalans Dragons.
Meanwhile 21-year-old Sagaga joins for 2026 from NRL side Penrith Panthers where he came through their youth ranks and went on to make 11 reserve grade appearances in the NSW Cup.
"I've coached Denive in the England programmes coming through the youth ranks and I can't thank Hull FC enough for letting us have a season-long loan," York head coach Mark Applegarth told the club website., external
"He could be anything he wants to be. He's got all the ability in the world for his age.
Applegarth continued: "[John] comes from a really good playing group and culture at Penrith Panthers. We're hoping he'll transfer some of the talent he's shown there into the Super League."
