Thunder spent much of last season at the top of Superleague
Northern Thunder have won the Fast Net Grand Prix pre-season tournament, beating Yorkshire Jets 35-21.
The event sees the top two of both the northern and southern conferences come together for a one-off tournament.
Thunder beat hosts Surrey Storm 27-21 to progress straight to the final whilst the Jets beat Celtic Dragons and Storm to join them.
New head coach Tracey Neville said: "The girls worked hard and produced some great netball."
She added: "We put it out there taking our powerplays in the first quarter and this tactic worked. I think it put the opposition on the back foot."
Thunder begin their season against Yorkshire Jets at the Manchester Thunderdome on Monday, 23 January.
