John Egan (Sheffield United) 1-5 James Maddison (Leicester City)

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison was crowned the winner of the second ePL Invitational with a clinical display over Sheffield United defender John Egan.

Both had to overcome moments of adversity to book their spot in the final two but in truth the final was as one-sided as you're likely to see.

James rushed into a two-goal lead thanks to Sheffield Wednesday fan Jamie Vardy.

    "He is deadly," said James.

At half-time John spoke about the need to get the next goal but that didn't happen as two more goals, this time from Kelechi Iheanacho, put James in cruise control.

"I know for a fact he's watching, thank you brother," said James.

There was still time for James to get on the scoresheet himself before John Fleck scored a late consolation for Egan.

"That one was for you, Leicester fans," said James at full-time.

We'll leave you with words of warning from John, to James: "You wait till the first time you get the ball when we next play each other."

  2. Egan wins tight clash to set up Maddison finalpublished at 18:29 BST 9 May 2020

John Egan (Sheffield United) 2-1 Max Aarons (Norwich)

Sheffield United defender John Egan edged past Norwich full-back Max Aarons to set up a final against James Maddison.

It was a tight affair throughout with clear-cut chances at a premium.

Egan looked like he'd done enough to earn a half-time advantage after Oliver Norwood's tap-in but Teemu Pukki pulled Aarons level on the stroke of half-time.

The second half was even tighter than the first-half. Pre-game Max said "I don't think my heart can cope with golden goal".

That looked like being the likely outcome until a long ball over the top was laid back for John Lundstram to smash home the winner with just a couple of minutes left on the clock.

"I was ice cool in the last 10 minutes, it's been the story of my tournament," said John. "I played a few games last night, I'm just trying to brush up on my skills. I feel like I'm getting better every game."

  3. Maddison comes from 3-1 down to earn final spotpublished at 17:54 BST 9 May 2020

Keinan Davis (Aston Villa) 3-4 James Maddison (Leicester City)

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison came from 3-1 down to beat Aston Villa foward Keinan Davis on golden goal.

Davis had strolled through the tournament so far winning his two games by an aggregate score of 14-2.

"He's the best in the tournament by a mile, it's his to lose. I'm the underdog, I have to get lucky," said Maddison pre-game.

It looked like those words were justified as Davis opened up a 3-1 lead causing him to say "you said I'm the best and you were right".

However, he made defensive tweaks and went to five at the back and that backfired as Maddison scored two goals in the final nine minutes to set up golden goal.

That didn't last long either as James found space in the area with Jamie Vardy and found the bottom corner to spark jubilant celebrations.

"I'm going to take Leicester all the way. I thought I'd stroke his ego pre-match and it worked a treat," said Maddison at full-time.
