    Rain brings an early end to one of the most incredible days of Test cricket.

    England were bowled out inside 80 overs but not before they had amassed 407 runs with Marcus Trescothick’s 90 and a brilliant partnership between Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen the highlights.

    England lost three wickets in that second session but they also scored an incredible 157 runs in 27 overs thanks to more scintillating batting.

    After being put into bat by Ricky Ponting, England have raced to 132-1 in 27 overs by lunch on day one.

    Shane Warne dismissed Andrew Strauss for the only wicket but Marcus Trescothick is there on 77 from 89 balls.

    Toss: Australia captain Ricky Ponting has won the toss and decided to bowl.

    Teams: England are unchanged from their defeat in the first Test but the big, breaking team news comes from the Australia camp.

    Seamer Glenn McGrath, who took nine wickets at Lord’s, trod on a ball in the outfield during the warm-up and has been ruled out of the match with an injured ankle.

    Michael Kasprowicz replaces him.
