Cardiff Devils suffered a 4-1 Elite League defeat by Nottingham Panthers at Vindico Arena.

The third-placed visitors, who are now a point behind Devils, hit the front through Cooper Zech in the first period.

They doubled their lead in the second period thanks to Tim Doherty only for Jimmy Oligny to give Cardiff hope in their bid for a fifth successive home win.

However, Panthers restored their two-goal advantage thanks to Zech's second and then Bryan Lemos secured victory.

Nottingham ended a run of three defeats and will attempt to back up the victory at Glasgow on Friday, 6 February (19:30 GMT) while Devils host Guildford Flames on the same night (19:00 GMT).
