Steelers leapfrog rivals Devils with overtime win in Cardiff

Mitchell Balmas's overtime goal saw Sheffield Steelers beat Cardiff Devils 4-3 at the Vindico Arena, leapfrogging their rivals into second in the Elite League.
Balmas scored the first goal of the game after four minutes, but the hosts were quickly level through Riley Brandt.
Robert Dowd restored Sheffield's lead on the power play with under 90 seconds remaining in the first period.
Canadian forward Derek Gentile put the Steelers 3-1 up early in the middle period, but a quickfire Devils double from Jimmy Oligny and Kristoff Kontos saw Cardiff draw level.
A goalless third period saw the game go into overtime, where Balmas scored his second of the contest to give the travelling Steelers fans and early Christmas present.
Sheffield move above Cardiff into second in the Elite League with victory, as the Devils drop to third - level on points with the Steelers.
The Steelers' festive action continues on Sunday away at Coventry Blaze, while the Devils travel to Manchester Storm.
