Fife are unbeaten in six games after this weekend

Fife Flyers forward Chase Schaber believes their Elite League rivals don't like facing them this season.

Todd Dutiaume's men drew 3-3 with Belfast Giants in the Challenge Cup then beat Sheffield Steelers 3-1 on Sunday.

And Schaber says their determination and graft are making them "pests" to their opponents.

"There's a sense of belief in our team this year that we can play and beat anybody in this league," he said.

"That means we have to show up and we've done that consistently.

"There aren't any upsets in this league anymore and I don't think the other teams enjoy playing us.

"The best way I can put it is we're a bunch of pests and we don't quit."

It was a great weekend for Todd Dutiaume's team as they not only kept their Challenge Cup hopes alive, but took a significant scalp against one of the league challengers.

Saturday in the 'Auld Barn' saw Belfast Giants come to Kirkcaldy as the cup reached its knockout stage and they're still in the tie after a 3-3 first leg draw.

David Rutherford and Colin Shields put the visitors two up before Evan Bloodoff got Flyers off the mark.

Giants went 3-1 up through Darcy Murphy, but the home side hit back strongly as Carlo Finucci and Danick Gauthier equalised to keep Fife in it.

The tie will resume in Belfast in early January as both sides fight out for a place in the semi-finals.

However, Sunday's trip to Sheffield Steelers proved to be hugely successful as the Kirkcaldy side inflicted a third straight defeat on Paul Thompson's side.

Mathieu Roy's opener for Sheffield was cancelled out by Shayne Stockton before further markers from Schaber and Charlie Mosey secured a 3-1 win for the visiting Flyers.

Dundee Stars had only one game in a Friday night meeting with Edinburgh Capitals, beating them 4-2 to claim the points.

Justin Fox put his team in front before it was cancelled out by Pavel Vorobyev, but Dundee were 3-1 up after the first with a second from Fox and one from Brian Hart.

Capitals closed the gap to one through Sergei Banashkov, but Fox's hat-trick goal secured two good points for Omar Pacha's side.

For Braehead, their woes continued as they now go five games without victory after giving up leads in their two games, at home to Guildford Flames and away at Cardiff Devils.

On Saturday, the Flames were 3-1 down after two periods as Ian Watters goal for Guildford was overcome by strikes from Ville Hämäläinen, Mike Embach and Landon Oslanski.

Watters' second - a shorthanded goal - turned the tide in the visitors favour early in the third and further goals from Kruise Reddick, Calle Ackered and Geoff Walker saw them win 5-3.

Braehead headed to Cardiff on Sunday badly needing points on the board, but found the champions in no mood to help them out of their slump as the Devils took a 6-4 win.

Layne Ulmer struck first for Cardiff, but the home side found themselves behind through Adam Brace and a Craig Peacock double.

The Devils kicked on as they hit five without reply through Matt Pope, Jake Morrissette, Patrick Asselin and second strikes each for Ulmer and Morrissette.

A late one for Tyler Scofield got another on the board for the Clan, but it did nothing to impact the final outcome.

Edinburgh hosted Guildford on Sunday looking to get themselves out of their slump, but having to do it again one of the league's in-form teams right now.

However Flames made sure their weekend in Scotland was a successful one, taking another two points in a 7-2 win at Murrayfield.

Guildford were four up without reply as Brennan Yadlowski, Geoff Walker and two from Liam Stewart set them on their way.

Dylan Anderson hit back for Caps, with Brett Ferguson restoring the visitors' four goal lead before Mike Cazzola found the net for the home side.

Late goals for Ferguson and Watters made sure of a comfortable victory as Edinburgh remain bottom of the table and without a win in six games now.
