Slot is asked about comments by former Liverpool player turned pundit Jamie Carragher criticising the team's work rate against Tottenham.

"I agree with Jamie on many things he has said this season," says Slot. "I disagree with him about this."

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on facing Galatasaray with a one-goal deficit to make up: "It's difficult because we have played twice against them and lost twice against them. The good thing for us is that it is the first game we play at home [against them] and we have the support of our fans, which will be supportive again tomorrow night because that is what they have always been and will always be for this club."

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on Alexander Isak, who trained alone on the grass today: "Alex is not available for tomorrow but the fact you see him on the pitch tells you that he gets closer and closer to joining us again.

"Not really [any timeframe on his return] but he will not be available for Saturday as well. When you don't train with the team yet you are not ready to play and as well all know if you have done for months on the individual session it is also a step up to train with the team and when you train with the team again it is quite a step up to playing in the Premier League or Champions League."

Arne Slot is asked by a Turkish reporter what the lyrics of You'll Never Walk Alone mean to him.

"I've never felt alone since I've been here," says Slot.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on Joe Gomez missing training, after playing with an issue on Sunday because fellow central defender Ibrahima Konate was not available: "Joe we will decide tomorrow. He wasn't available for training today. He had too much issues after our last game, although he had these issues already after the Galatasaray game. It wasn't planned for him to play against Tottenham but unfortunately Ibo [Konate] got discomfort in his hamstring so we couldn't take the risk of playing him. that's why Joe had to play and it has built up so much so now he is a bit of a doubt for tomorrow. He's going to try tomorrow to see if he is available."

We've all tried to help him and we are all pushing in the same direction. Obviously the pressure is a big bigger on all of us at the moment because the results have not been there. You have to perform and get the results and when you don't the scrutiny is bigger. He has obviously faced a lot more scrutiny than last year and so have us as players. It's up to us to stand up to that. We are all good enough to be at Liverpool and it's up to us to show that. If we do, I am sure we can turn the tide back towards the way we want it to go."

"Tomorrow night is a massive game for us, we have to do everything we can to try to win that game and if we are in the quarter-finals we will focus on the quarter-finals.

"Our aim is always to be sending our fans home happy. That gives you the biggest satisfaction, that they were happy with what they have seen on the pitch.

"Sunday they weren't happy and neither were we, but in terms of tomorrow night it doesn't worry me at all because at Anfield, under the lights, with our fans in that stadium - they have been here before and they will be here many, many times in the future as well.

"They always produce special night at Anfield and I don't think tomorrow night will be any different, but we have to give them something to shout about.

"They will be right behind us, but we have to give them something to get behind."

We are all frustrated by the fact that we can't find that consistency because last season that's probably what set us apart from everyone else in the league. That's why we ended up winning the league pretty comfortably. It's hard to be able to put your finger on why we have not been able to get that consistency this season.

"It's been a huge frustration for all of us, we've all been trying to put our finger on it and trying to demand it, working towards it, but for whatever reason we've not quite found it yet.

"We can't give up trying. We need to try to fight through it and find that consistency because that is the only way we can try and turn this season around.

"Time is running out, games are running out but we have got a chance tomorrow night to get to the quarter-finals of the Champions League which would be good for us. We are still in the FA Cup and we have to sort out our league form, that's obvious.

"We won't give up trying to find the answers to that and hopefully we find them sooner rather than later."

Liverpool have won just one of their last four games in all competitions and there were boos at Anfield after the final whistle on Sunday, when they let a one-goal lead slip in their draw against relegation threatened Tottenham.

There is mounting pressure on manager Arne Slot to deliver success this season, after he won the Premier League title in his first campaign as Liverpool manager.

The Reds are into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, where they will face a tough trip to Manchester City, and face a potential rematch against defending European champions Paris St-Germain in the last eight of the Champions League, if they can make it past Galatasaray.

PSG beat Liverpool en route to the final of the Champions League last season.

So Slot knows there will be no easy route to further silverware for his Liverpool side, who are fifth in the Premier League, out of the title race and battling to earn qualification for top-tier European competition next season.

It's not an understatement to say this is Liverpool's most important game of the season so far.

Arne Slot's side come into it off the back of a disappointing result on Sunday against Tottenham, where they were met with boos from sections of the home support.

But this is Anfield and when it comes to European nights at home, not many do it better at Liverpool.

Dominik Szoboszlai has already called on the fans to "stick with us" this week and there is little doubt that the Anfield crowd will need to be behind them tomorrow, against a Galatasaray side that has already kept Liverpool out for 180 minutes this season.

On the age of the team: We are very young. We don’t have lots of experience in the Champions League but we are willing to give everything to this team and this club.

The average age of the Barcelona team is 20 and the average age of Newcastle is 28...: The most important thing is not to focus too much on experience but on how you consider the game and the things you need to do really well to be successful. Both teams will need to play at the highest level to go through. We need to give it our all from the very beginning which is what we will do.

On Anthony Gordon: Newcastle has top quality players but I wouldn’t want to focus on individual players. They’re all spectacular. Let’s focus on what we can do and what we can improve.

The atmosphere at St. James' Park: The intensity they had in their home stadium was spectacular. We knew what we were coming up against. In attack, we needed to find something else but in our own stadium, in front of own fans, it will be different tomorrow. We need everyone to get behind us.
