Interim boss Neil Warnock picked up his first win back in charge of National League South side Torquay United at the third time of asking.
The 77-year-old took over the Gulls on 1 March and oversaw a 2-2 draw with Farnborough on his 21st managerial debut before his side lost 3-0 at Ebbsfleet United at the weekend.
But on Tuesday night, he tasted success after returning to the home dugout at Plainmoor following a brief spell in charge of the club 33 years ago.
Winger Dylan Morgan's excellent individual effort four minutes into the second half broke the deadlock on Tuesday night, lashing home under the side of the bar with his left foot, before Matt Jay curled home from just inside the box to clinch a 2-1 victory against Salisbury.
Noah Coppin grabbed a late consolation goal for Salisbury but it proved to be in vain as Torquay picked up their first win in eight matches.

Torquay are expected to announce a new permanent head coach in the coming days but that didn't take away from Warnock enjoying the three points in what looks to be his final game in charge.
"My career has been full of performances like tonight - gritty performances, everybody dying for the cause, and that's the minimum that is required in football," Warnock told BBC Radio Devon.
"There is no substitute for working hard like that. Look at our wingers [Jordan] Youngy and Dylan [Morgan] defending at the back...
"In injury time, Youngy was in their box one minute and the next minute he's defending - no wonder he got cramp.
"I said to all of them 'shots tonight, second half'. They've got great ability. Sometimes football is all about confidence and when players have got confidence, they do things without thinking."
