Norwich City are closing in on the signing of Brondby forward Mathias Kvistgaarden for an initial fee, believed to be about £6.9m.

The Canaries have met a release clause figure in the Danish international's contract.

The deal also includes some appearance and achievement-related add-ons along with a sell-on clause for Brondby.

The 23-year-old is in Norwich to undergo a medical with a view to completing his move to Carrow Road.

Kvistgaarden scored 23 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions for Brondby last season, form which helped earn him his first cap for Denmark against Northern Ireland in June.

Norwich appointed Liam Manning as their new head coach last month and have also had a busy summer in the transfer market.

They have already made six signings - goalkeepers Dan Grimshaw, Vladan Kovacevic and Louie Moulden, defenders Jakov Medic and Harry Darling, plus midfielder Jacob Wright.

They start the new Championship season with a home game against Millwall on 9 August.
