Rosenior on Fernandez's fitness, Disasi's role and Sterling's future

Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has been speaking to the media before Wednesday's Champions League game against Pafos at Stamford Bridge (20:00 GMT).

Here are the key lines from his news conference:

  • Rosenior confirmed Enzo Fernandez was ill and missed training yesterday but trained today so a decision will be made on his involvement tomorrow.

  • Tosin Adarabioyo has felt "something in his hamstring that will rule him out for the next few weeks".

  • Estevao, Jamie Gittens and Malo Gusto have all returned to training after illness, but "none of those lads are at 100%" and "there are still a few coughs".

  • Asked about reports of big European sides interested in Fernandez, Rosenior said: "It means nothing to me. When you are a world class player there will always be speculation you can't control. Enzo has been outstanding in the time I've worked with him. He's a Chelsea player, he's very important to me, and hopefully we will have a winning relationship going forward."

  • Rosenior was not drawn into commenting on reported Chelsea interest in Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet: "I don't speak about players at other clubs until something is agreed. Whether it's true or not I will speak about it at the right time."

  • On Axel Disasi returning from the 'bomb squad' to first team training: "I had a really good meeting with him a couple of days ago. I said to the players when I came in it is a clean slate for everyone. It is right for him to be back involved with the group. He is behind on his match fitness but we will work really hard for him."

  • On Raheem Sterling, who continues to train alone, Rosenior said: "Raheem, we are in conversations about different things and options in his career. Hopefully that will be clearer in a few days."

  • On Liam Delap, who he previously managed at Hull City: "I always keep a track of the players I've worked with and it was so good to see him play at the level I know he is capable of in the Premier League. It wasn't a surprise he ended up here. I am going to keep pushing him to keep improving."

  • Wednesday will be Rosenior's first taste of Champions League football: "Your dream as a player or coach is to be at the very top of the game. The Champions League is a signal of that. It's not about me, my focus in winning the game. Pafos is not an easy game, they can still qualify."

  • He is keen to finish in the top eight in the league phase and avoid the play-off round: "It would be optimal, especially when you're a new manager coming in you want those training days. But, the most important thing is getting through."
