Bristol City have confirmed the signing of free agent Sam Morsy on a six-month deal until the end of the season.
The move, reported last month, sees the former Ipswich midfielder return to football for the first time since September after his two-year contract with Kuwait FC was cancelled.
The 34-year-old captained Ipswich Town to back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League, before leaving the Tractor Boys this summer.
"As soon as I heard of the interest, I could see it was a really good fit for me," Morsy said.
"Gerhard [Struber] has an infectious personality and is a real winner and I know the style of football he wants to play.
"I am going to give it everything I have got and I am fully committed to this cause. I am joining an amazing football club and amazing group."
Morsy played 34 times for Ipswich last season in the top flight, which ended in them being relegated back to the Championship - making 165 appearances in total for the club during his four seasons.
The Egypt international began his career at Port Vale and has also played for Chesterfield, Wigan and Middlesbrough.
He played just three games for Kuwait FC before departing and has been training with the Robins in recent weeks.
"We know what an experienced player Sam is and to have his quality on the pitch and his leadership in the dressing room is really exciting for us," Bristol City technical director Brian Tinnion said.
Bristol City have also signed winger Ranel Young to their under-21 academy on a deal until the summer of 2027.
The 19-year-old joins from Serbian side Usce but began his career in Liverpool's academy and featured 20 times for the Reds' Premier League 2 team last season, scoring four goals with a further two assists.
"Ranel is a versatile player with a lot of talent, and we are excited for him to join our under-21s set up," Tinnion said.
"He adds quality and has a host of potential in the game."
