League Two leaders Bromley have condemned racist comments on social media directed at striker Nicke Kabamba.

The club say the 32-year-old was abused following Bromley's 0-0 draw at Chesterfield.

"We have reported these accounts to the relevant platforms and they will also be passed on to the police," Bromley said in a statement.

Kabamba had a penalty saved in the 89th minute of the game as Bromley failed to win for the first time in eight games.

Bromley's statement added: "Actions of this manner simply do not belong in our society, let alone the sport we all love.

"Unfortunately, as a football club, we can't change the way people think.

"However, we can use our status and platform to continue to fight for those who are subject to such vile and cowardly abuse."

Kabamba, who moved to the club in the summer from Barnet, has scored eight goals this season, helping the club move six points clear at the top of League Two.

"Nicke, since arriving at the football club, you have been a fantastic asset. Not only as a footballer, but as a human," the statement said.

"A hero to our supporters and a friend to everyone at Bromley Football Club.

"We will continue to support and stand by Nicke and any player, staff or supporter who are subject to any type of abuse."
