Peterborough United striker Gustav Lindgren has joined BK Hacken in his native Sweden for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old was signed by Posh from Degerfors a year ago and scored six goals in 43 appearances in all competitions, the most recent strike coming in a 1-1 draw with Reading on 29 December.

The highlight of his time with the club was collecting a winners' medal at Wembley after they beat Birmingham City in last season's Vertu Trophy final, having been sent on as a late substitute.

"We see Gustav's speed and intensity, together with a natural killer instinct in the penalty area, as clear strengths in him and are something that we believe will fit in very well with us," Hacken football director Martin Ericsson told the club website., external

Lindgren's departure comes three months after Peterborough terminated the contract of fellow Swede Oscar Wallin by mutual agreement - and the defender has since retired from playing to continue his education.

"I'm sad to see Gus go because I really enjoyed working with him.... he really did give everything to the group while he was here," Peterborough boss Luke Williams told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

"I think his whole experience while he's been in the UK has not been the dream he had and it was a really attractive offer for him. As an overall decision, it's a good one for him."
