Hellberg: Boro need to be 'aggressive' against Charlton

Middlesbrough head coach Kim Hellberg is looking for an "aggressive" approach as they prepare to welcome Charlton Athletic.

Wednesday's visit of the Addicks is the first of two home games in four days with Bristol City coming to the Riverside Stadium on Saturday.

On the back of two good away victories at Birmingham City and QPR, momentum is back with Boro who have opened up a four-point lead over Millwall in third.

"It's important for us to be aggressive," Hellberg told BBC Radio Tees.

"What I look most about us is we are a team who always like to put pace on the ball and always try to put the ball into play."

However, in a similar situation last month, Boro only managed draws from games at home to struggling pair Oxford United and Leicester City.

But Hellberg is remaining calm. Boro averaged 67.2% possession in those matches and had 41 shots but only managed one goal, so the Swede just wants his side to be a bit more clinical.

Boro rank joint-10th in the Championship in terms of goals scored at home with 36, 10 fewer than leaders Coventry and nine below promotion rivals Ipswich.

"We have conceded one goal in six home games," added Hellberg. "It's been very good in that part, so we just need to keep scoring goals.

"That's the aim of the game. High block, low block, whatever.

"We're mainly preparing to try to do a good performance, not thinking about the games we played in that way."
