Bristol City defender Cameron Pring said the experience of last year's play-off failure will motivate the Championship club to "go all the way" in the second half of the season.

Full-back Pring was part of the City side that finished sixth last season, only to lose 3-0 in both legs of their semi-final against Sheffield United.

The 27-year-old, who has returned to action in recent weeks after injuring ankle ligaments in pre-season, told BBC Radio Bristol: "Top six is good – we just want to go all the way now.

"We felt a bit disappointed at the end of last season. I feel myself that we let the club down in the play-offs – you go through that experience and you want to push on and do more.

"The club hadn't been there for a long time, so it was new to me and a lot of the lads, and the experience will play a big part, I'm sure.

"Coming into the new year with more people back and a lot less injuries, touch wood, it'd be good to push on and go for it."

The Robins are ninth in the table as they head into the festive programme, still nine points behind second-placed Middlesbrough despite beating them 2-0 at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

"Those are the type of wins that show a lot of togetherness and resilience, the ones you're really buzzing for," Pring said.

"When you come away with a 2-0 win and a clean sheet, it's a really good feeling.

"We've come away from some games wanting more and expecting more – the whole team expects results every single week."

Defender George Tanner, who missed the Boro game through injury, returned to training this week and could feature when City visit West Bromwich Albion on Boxing Day.
