Norwegian attacking midfielder Harald Nilsen Tangen has joined Notts County on an initial loan from Sarpsborg 08 with the option of a permanent deal this summer.

The 25-year-old, who played youth internationals for Norway up to under-20 level, has made 130 appearances in his native top flight.

He is a product of Viking FK's academy and became a mainstay in their side after a breakthrough season in the Eliteserien in 2021, scoring five goals in 27 appearances.

Tangen remained at Viking for the next two-and-a-half seasons before signing a long-term contract with Sarpsborg in August 2024.

County's director of football Richard Montague told the club website, external that "Harald has lots of exciting qualities".

"He's very strong technically with an excellent first touch, an eye for a pass, quick feet and a rapid change of direction which allows him to get out of tight spaces and carry the ball into dangerous areas," Montague added.

"Harald is also very hard-working in the press and he's been an important player for both Sarpsborg and Viking FK at the top level of Norwegian football."
