Preston North End have sold midfielder Stefan Thordarson to German Bundesliga 2 side Hannover 96.

The 27-year-old joined the Lilywhites in 2024 from Danish club Silkeborg on a three-year contract.

He made a total of 64 appearances for the club in all competitions and now moves to Germany for an undisclosed fee.

The Iceland international's final appearance for North End came as a substitute in their 2-1 win at Oxford United in December.

In a statement, the club wished him luck and said he "departs Deepdale with the club's best wishes".
