Gills' on-loan Wigan midfielder Smith has surgery

Gillingham have confirmed that on-loan midfielder Jonny Smith has undergone surgery after suffering an injury to his lower leg during last Saturday's 3-0 win at Harrogate Town.
The 28-year-old joined Gills on a season-long loan deal from Wigan Athletic on 1 September and has made 10 appearances for the League Two club.
The expected length of Smith's recovery has yet to be disclosed by either club and it remains unclear if this marks an end to his loan spell at the Priestfield Stadium.
Gillingham continue their League Two campaign with a home game against table-topping Bromley on Saturday afternoon (15:00 GMT).
