Bristol Rovers head coach Steve Evans says he and director of football Ricky Martin are burning the midnight oil to bring in new faces in January.

The Gas are 22nd in League Two and have not won a league match since 27 September, a 10-game losing run costing previous boss Darrell Clarke his job.

Evans replaced Clarke last Tuesday and began his tenure with a 1-1 draw away to Crewe Alexandra to earn Rovers their first league point in almost three months.

"Myself and Ricky [Martin] have been with each other till 11 or 12 o'clock every night since I came in, and that's with the aim of doing what we have to do in January - but January will be January," Evans told BBC Radio Bristol.

"We need to put some ducks in a row, which we're working hard on but of course, my only immediate priority now is Boxing Day.

"Sometimes it's impossible, or sometimes we're at the beck and call of clubs further up the pyramid who say they've not made final decisions because they're trying to bring people in before they let others out.

"But it's certainly gone to a stage where Ricky and myself are both actively involved in talking to clubs and one or two players as well."
