Reading manager Noel Hunt is hoping to strengthen his squad with at least one more signing before the weekend.

Reading announced the signing of striker Jack Marriott from Wrexham on Tuesday before their 2-1 EFL Cup second round win against AFC Wimbledon that evening.

Following the game, Hunt told BBC Radio Berkshire: "We'll try and do a bit of business tomorrow [Wednesday], if we can.

"It'd be nice to get something done before the weekend, because we know obviously there's a couple of days left after that [until the transfer window closes], then Tuesday [when Reading travel to Swindon in the EFL Trophy].

"If we can get one or two, well, I'd take one right now, and go from there."

Reading host Port Vale in League One on Saturday when they will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to four games.

"We said it was going to be a slow process and it was going to take time, [for the] boys to know each other. We said that it would take six to eight weeks," Hunt added.

"I think it's coming together just around that if not a bit quicker, which is great for us, but we got to step on now.

"We're building momentum so we keep the momentum going if we can."
