Bristol City Women 0-1 Manchester United Women: Yana Daniels scores own-goal winner

Bristol City will take their Women's Super League fight into the final weekend despite losing to Manchester United to a Yana Daniels own goal.

United will finish fourth after Arsenal's late win all but guaranteed the Gunners European football.

The Robins were the better side for much of the match with Kiera Skeels and Ebony Salmon both going close early on.

But Daniels turned the ball into her own net after Jane Ross hit the post following good work by Christen Press.

Bristol City will need to beat Brighton next weekend and hope Aston Villa slip up, with Birmingham City and West Ham now essentially safe because of their superior goal difference.

However, that situation could change for Birmingham subject to the outcome of Football Association charges for playing midfielder Ruesha Littlejohn against Reading last month when she should have been suspended.

Skeels hit the bar for the home side after seven minutes in Bath, while Press saw her effort cleared off the line at the other end.

Salmon was then denied when one-on-one with United keeper Mary Earps and Molly Pike put a good headed chance wide.

The decisive moment came 11 minutes from the end as Press set up Ross, who could only hit the post from close range, with the ball rebounding in off the unfortunate Daniels.
