Karlan Grant missed a big chance for Huddersfield, with the game ending goalless
Brentford missed the chance to climb to third in the Championship as they were held to a draw at Huddersfield Town, who ended a run of three defeats in a row in all competitions.
Kamil Grabara twice denied Said Benrahma as the London club threatened, while Trevoh Chalobah headed over the crossbar in reply before the break.
Karlan Grant fired over for a pumped-up Terriers following the resumption, and debutant Emile Smith Rowe saw efforts blocked by some stubborn defending.
Josh Dasilva hit the post with a late effort for Thomas Frank's side, but the Bees had to settle for a point.
With Leeds losing at QPR and West Brom not playing until Monday, this was a missed opportunity for the visitors to move two points off the automatic promotion places.
However, for only the third time in 12 games, the division's second-highest scorers were unable to add to their tally of 44 goals, and remain fourth below west London rivals Fulham.
Huddersfield boss Danny Cowley gave starting debuts to three new signings, with Richard Stearman and ex-Lincoln defender Harry Toffolo showing bright touches - the latter at the higher level - and Smith Rowe growing in confidence in the second half.
While the draw ended their losing run, they remain 20th in the table, but five points clear of the bottom three.
Huddersfield Town head coach Danny Cowley told BBC Radio Leeds:
"It was a hard-earned point against a very good team. A lot of our work against the ball was good and we pressed with aggression and energy.
"When we couldn't get the press on, we were in compact organised shape. We kept probably the most free-flowing team in the league to no clear-cut chances.
"When you consider we made three changes to the back four that is a positive. and there were signs of relationships building in the second-half, we found Emile Smith Rowe in spaces behind their midfield and if we'd take one of those chances in that period we could have got more from the game.
"We tired a little bit, and when you bring new players and some who haven't played much, that is going to happen. We'll take the point and move on."
Brentford manager Thomas Frank:
"We will find out at the end of the season whether that's a valuable point or not.
"Danny [Cowley] and his coaching staff have done a really good job since they've come into the club. It's not surprising that they were well-prepared for us and that they wanted to do everything they could to close us down.
"I think Huddersfield created absolutely nothing except for one really big chance, which was for me a clear misunderstanding from my centre-back."
