FA Cup: Plymouth Argyle 0-1 Bristol Rovers highlights
Bristol Rovers dealt with boss Graham Coughlan's departure seven hours before kick-off by getting past Plymouth in their FA Cup second-round replay.
Caoughlan left League One club Rovers at 12:00 GMT and was named Mansfield boss three hours later.
Visiting keeper Anssi Jaakkola pushed a Josh Grant shot onto the post and kept George Cooper out before Rovers struck.
Alex Rodman met a deflected clearance to head home the winner and set up a third-round meeting with Coventry.
It was a fortuitous goal as an attempted clearance from Plymouth defender Scott Wootton looped up off Rovers' Cameron Hargreaves before falling invitingly for Rodman to nod home at the far post.
The League Two hosts had created the better chances before that, with Antoni Sarcevic going close while Gary Sawyer had a goal-bound effort deflected over and Dom Telford was denied by visiting keeper Anssi Jaakkola before the break.
Finnish goalkeeper Jaakkola crucially clawed a header from Grant onto the post and then kept a deflected Cooper effort out seconds later, with Telford wastefully sending his shot on the rebound over before Rodman won it for Rovers.
Bristol Rovers caretaker manager Joe Dunne:
"It is a wonderful result against a really difficult team to play against. Once again the resilience of everybody has shone through.
"Anssi proved why he is going to the European Championship in the summer.
"He has made some excellent saves, we need our keeper to do that and I thought everybody worked so hard especially in the second half. We carried a threat in the second half as well.
"The cup is all about results, it is not just about performances, and overall we are delighted.
Plymouth Argyle boss Ryan Lowe:
"We have dominated possession, large parts of the game, attacks, chances, crosses against a good League One team who are fourth in the table.
"I am frustrated that we haven't scored but that's the football I want to be seeing at Home Park.
"I think with their goal they've had a bit of Lady Luck, our clearance has hit one of their players on the back spun up in the air and it's a good finish from their player.
"We just didn't have that tonight. I think we could still be out there now and might not have scored."
