Nottingham Forest 1-1 Preston North End: Albert Adomah rescues Reds with equaliser

Albert Adomah came off the bench to earn Nottingham Forest a 1-1 Championship draw with Preston North End and extend their unbeaten run to seven games.

Preston had dominated the opening 45 minutes and got the goal their pressure deserved when Billy Bodin bamboozled a defender and fired in from six yards out just before the break.

Forest were much improved after half-time, switching things around in midfield with Samba Sow, Joao Carvalho and Adomah brought on.

It took former Aston Villa and Middlesbrough winger Adomah just a couple minutes to make his impact, as he latched onto a delicious pass from Carvalho to steer Forest level.

Joe Lolley and Brad Potts had late chances for each side respectively but the points were shared, and North End's wait for a first away league win of the season goes on.

Sabri Lamouchi's Forest side have found their mojo since an opening weekend defeat by West Brom, and came into this game on the back of a thumping Carabao Cup win over rivals Derby in midweek.

However, it was North End who made the opening half running, with Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba - again preferred to Manchester City loanee Arijanet Muric - kept busy by the lively Bodin and Josh Harrop.

Alex Neil's side were on their fine run of form, two wins and a penalty shootout cup success in their past three games, and they also showed their defensive mettle to frustrate Forest in the second 45.

Lamouchi's tweaks proved key but it looked as though Declan Rudd would have the upper hand, until Adomah's goal brought parity and a deserved point apiece.

Nottingham Forest head coach Sabri Lamouchi:

"After the first half it was difficult. At one down, it was lucky for us because Preston started the game in a good way and we didn't play the first half.

"They won the first half, we won the second because we started to play. We changed something, we were more aggressive, we had more rhythm, and we tried until the end to win.

"The positive is that we stayed in the game, we came back into the game, and we never gave up."

Preston manager Alex Neil:

"In the first half, we had probably four very, very good chances, the keeper makes a couple of good saves and we get a good goal. I thought we were totally dominant in the first half and I don't think they had an answer for us.

"We knew they were going to come out and be more aggressive in the second half and I knew that was going to be difficult because the pace at the top end of the pitch isn't available at the moment.

"We needed to be a bit braver and force the ball through the middle a bit more, but naturally when you're winning the game you're a bit reluctant to do it. I thought Forest did the scrappy bits of the game in the second half better than us."
