Shrewsbury Town striker Fejiri Okenabirhie scored a second-half equaliser to secure League One status for his side and end Coventry City's slim play-off hopes.

Coventry needed to win heavily and do the dame at seventh-placed Doncaster next weekend to stand any chance.

But Jordan Shipley's 16th-minute strike proved to be the Sky Blues' only goal.

And Shrewsbury equalised when a long-range scuffed effort by skipper Luke Waterfall fell kindly to Okenabirhie.

He duly poked the ball home from six yards out for a share of the spoils to ruin the occasion for the Coventry fans who are still not sure yet whether they will be seeing football at the Ricoh Arena again next season.

Shrewsbury's place in League One for another season was all but assured the day before by defeats for Scunthorpe United and Plymouth Argyle.

Plymouth would have had to win at home to Scunthorpe on the final day and Shrewsbury lose at home to Oxford - and suffer a 17-goal swing in goal difference - to go down.

The biggest cheer of the day came when Coventry legend Steve Ogrizovic was presented to the fans.

After 35 years' service at the club as both player and goalkeeping coach, Big Oggy bowed out against another of his former clubs.
