David Raya saves Bojan Krkic's penalty
Stoke City ended their run of goalless draws with a win at Blackburn Rovers in a game littered with injuries.
The Potters, who had drawn their four previous games 0-0, scored the only goal of the game in the 14th minute as Tom Ince's cut-back was smashed home right-footed from outside the box by Nigeria international Peter Etebo.
On the stroke of half-time, City missed the chance to double their lead when Benik Afobe was brought down in the box but Bojan Krkic's penalty was saved.
Stoke were forced to make all three changes by the 60th minute after Ince, Ryan Shawcross and Bojan all picked up injuries.
Rovers had the first real chance of the game as they hit the bar inside eight minutes, Joe Rothwell's effort striking the frame of the goal.
Adam Armstrong went close to levelling the game, but his right-footed shot was blocked.
The hosts had to replace skipper Charlie Mulgrew because of injury, with Derrick Williams coming on in place of the Scotland international.
Stoke's win at Ewood Park ended their 390-minute wait for a goal and they held on for their sixth consecutive clean sheet.
Stoke City boss Nathan Jones told BBC Radio Stoke:
"I'm probably a little bit disappointed we didn't win by more.
"We played some wonderful football first half and we had the penalty which could have led us to 2-0.
"We could have made it a lot easier on ourselves, but I can't fault the work rate or the resilience."
Rovers boss Tony Mowbray said:
"I think it's a team with a lot of spirit, a lot of effort, a lot of drive, a lot of commitment but ultimately didn't score a goal in any of those four games.
"What an amazing effort from the team, and yet the ability to pick the last pass, the ability to find the space in the box, to score a goal, wasn't there again, against a team that has kept six clean sheets on the bounce.
"It was always going to be difficult once they scored, but I think we gave it a really good effort and it just wasn't to be."
