A goalless draw between Burton Albion and Walsall satisfied few at the Pirelli Stadium as both sides struggled to find a winner.
The first half saw Albion dominate for long periods without being able to find a moment of real quality to carve open the Saddlers defence.
David Templeton looked to be Burton's biggest threat in a poor first period; coming in from the left with a low shot blocked by Jon Guthrie inside the six-yard box before skewing a 25-yard effort wide of Liam Roberts' post.
The second half produced much better fare, with Roberts having to save from a dipping Colin Daniel effort and Walsall carving out a decent chance when Zeli Ismail found Matt Jarvis in the box, with the winger's first-time shot fizzing just wide.
Josh Gordon forced Brad Collins into an excellent save on 79 minutes from six yards out with a firm header but neither side could fashion a winner on a day when defences dominated.
