Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Reading: Steve Bruce's Hillsborough dugout debut ends goalless

Sheffield Wednesday could not find a way past Reading for a third successive league win
Sheffield Wednesday and Reading drew a blank in Steve Bruce's first home match as Wednesday manager.
Adam Reach spurned a glorious chance to win it for the Owls in stoppage time when he blasted over from Liam Palmer's cut back in the area.
Reading played out their second goalless draw in as many games, while Wednesday did at least keep a second clean sheet in Bruce's second match in charge.
The Royals remain inside the bottom three with their third draw in a row, while Wednesday stay 16th.
Jose Gomes has won just one of his nine games in charge since being appointed manager in December, but that was also Reading's only victory in their last 15 Championship matches.
Wednesday are now unbeaten in their past six home league games. But Bruce will be concerned by a lack of cutting-edge in front of goal on an afternoon where they threatened while rarely creating any clear-cut chances.
Reading themselves were indebted to goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez making some smart saves while at the other end, Keiren Westwood denied Mo Barrow, Lewis Baker and Yakou Meite.
Sheffield Wednesday manager Steve Bruce told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"It was a difficult afternoon, I think most of the supporters will understand, [there was] a horrible swirling wind, the worst conditions if you're a footballer.
"We had two or three wonderful opportunities to win the game.
"Defensively we look a lot, lot, better, a big compliment to the back four, but we have to take these chances."
Reading manager Jose Gomes told BBC Radio Berkshire:
"I think we can consider it a good point, in the first half they played better than us.
"It was quite a balanced game... the ball bounced a lot, it wasn't easy to control the ball, it wasn't easy too play.
"The second half we tried more to play our football and we finished the game better than them."
