Scunthorpe United 1-0 Wycombe Wanderers

Kyle Wootton struck his first goal of the season to earn Scunthorpe victory over Wycombe and end his side's six-match losing run in League One.

The striker bagged what proved to be the only goal of the game in the eighth minute, with the ball bobbling over the line after bouncing under Chairboys keeper Ryan Allsopp from a tight angle.

It settled a scrappy affair in which the visitors asked the most questions, without being able to find a goal.

Wycombe thought they had levelled two minutes after going behind when Alex Samuel lashed a shot home when Scunthorpe failed to clear, but his side's celebrations were ended by an offside flag.

On-loan Leicester midfielder George Thomas squandered a decent opportunity to double the hosts' lead when firing tamely at Allsopp after being put through by Lee Novak.

The Iron were grateful to the woodwork for keeping their advantage in tact when a sweetly-struck shot from Scott Kashket bounced against the post.

Much of the second half was spent in the Iron's defensive third as Wycombe searched for an equaliser and Kashket was denied again by a brilliant stop from keeper Jak Alnwick as the hosts secured a first victory since the middle of November.
