CJ Hamilton doubled his tally of league goals this season with a brace
Two goals from CJ Hamilton saw Mansfield take victory in the Nottinghamshire derby against Notts County.
The Stags are now unbeaten in 13 league games - their best run for 42 years - and took advantage of the early kick-off to solidify their place in the top three.
Defeat for Notts County leaves them inside the League Two relegation places and without a win in nine games.
Hamilton took his tally of league goals to four for this season with a goal in either half to make a miserable first league game in charge for new Notts boss Neal Ardley.
A scrappy, but exciting first half saw chances at both ends.
Tyler Walker fired wide from a great position and Neal Bishop was denied by Ross Fitzsimons' legs after being sent clear by a fantastic pass by Jacob Mellis.
At the other end, home keeper Bobby Olejnik twice denied ex-Stag Nathan Thomas and also saved from Will Patching.
But the deadlock was broken on 37 minutes as Mal Benning hoisted the ball to the far post from the left and Hamilton turned it home.
Hamilton then rattled the Notts crossbar as Stags began the second half on the front foot before he doubled the lead on 63 minutes, making the space to fire home low from 10 yards after Mellis had fed him from the right.
