Shrewsbury Town 0-0 Blackpool

Shrewsbury picked up their first point of the season from a 0-0 draw with Blackpool.

John Askey's side created the better chances throughout but Blackpool stood firm to register a clean sheet from their second goalless away draw from as many trips.

Shrewsbury forward Lenell John-Lewis was unable to convert Shaun Whalley's inviting cross from the right before Josh Laurent drove forward and fired narrowly wide from 20 yards.

Alex Gilliead was next to go close for the hosts with an effort kept out by Blackpool goalkeeper Mark Howard at his near post.

Rangers loanee Greg Docherty and fellow midfielder Laurent were also just off target for last season's beaten League One play-off finalists.

Blackpool found chances hard to come by, with Curtis Tilt's header from a corner which was straight at Joel Coleman the only first-half save they forced from the Shrewsbury goalkeeper.

The hosts continued to push for a breakthrough in the second half, with Laurent's late effort well saved by Howard before Docherty had a shot blocked in stoppage time.
