Ellen White has scored nine goals in 10 games for Birmingham this season

Goals from Ellen White and Rachel Williams helped Birmingham beat Sunderland to move up to third in the Women's Super League One table.

White's sixth goal in four games put City in front, firing into the far corner from Williams' knock down.

Williams then doubled the lead when her shot from just inside the box was deflected past keeper Rachael Laws.

Paige Williams had a corner pushed onto the bar after the break as Blues continued to control the game.

Mollie Lambert hit the post late on for Sunderland, who stayed seventh in the table after their seventh defeat in 12 games this season.

Birmingham's seventh win in their past eight league games left them one point above fourth-placed Arsenal, having played two games more than the Gunners.
