The resemblance is uncanny...

Tweets can be deleted. But there will always be screenshots for evidence.

And that's the exact dilemma Everton were faced with last night, after accidentally tagging none other than American rapper Lil Wayne in a tweet instead of their very own Wayne Rooney.

The Toffees were celebrating their narrow 1-0 win over Newcastle, and shared a photo of the former Manchester United striker alongside the tweet "FT. WWWDW. #EFCawayday".

And in all fairness to Everton's social media team, the "Lollipop" and "Right Above It" rapper does have almost double the number of Twitter followers than 32-year-old Rooney, so perhaps that's why Weezy came up as the Wayne of choice...

Obviously the Merseyside club deleted the original tweet, but Toffees fans didn't miss the social media faux pas, and the replies that followed were Twitter gold.

Conor even took to Photoshop...
