A stylish Niamh Charles lob earned Liverpool Ladies a win over Birmingham City Ladies which took them up to third in Women's Super League One.

Both sides missed good openings, with Charles the only player to show true composure when she calmly lobbed keeper Hannah Hampton following a long ball.

Freda Ayisi was at the centre of the away side's best moments.

But she wasted two early chances and, after Charles' first-half goal, hit the bar from close range after the break.
