Torquay United are waiting to discover the extent of captain Courtney Richards's hamstring injury.

The 22-year-old, who was made Gulls skipper at the start of the season, was hurt during the second half of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Barrow.

"It could be a couple of weeks, it could be six, you just don't know until it's calmed down," manager Kevin Nicholson told BBC Sport.

He is likely to be replaced by summer signing Damon Lathrope.

Nicholson added: "Courtney's a leader. On the ball he's got to keep it simple and keep the ball moving, but off the ball he's relentless.

"That's why he's captain, because of what he brings. Even when he's not playing well in his eyes, he still keeps on going and he drags people up to his standard and that's what I want."
