Tony Mowbray: Coventry City set to add to squad in coming weeks, says boss

Coventry City boss Tony Mowbray expects the League One club to bring in more new players over "the next week or so".

The Sky Blues have so far signed strikers Kwame Thomas and Marvin Sordell, while Marcus Tudgay and Sam Ricketts have agreed new deals.

"We're still a long way off having a team I'd like to start with," 52-year-old Mowbray told BBC Coventry and Warwickshire.

"We have to be patient and we can't build our team on loans this year."

Coventry made an excellent start to last season and topped the table in November before their form tailed off during the second half of the campaign.

They eventually finished in eighth place, five points outside the play-off places.

The Sky Blues' promotion bid was spearheaded by on-loan Newcastle striker Adam Armstrong, who scored 20 goals.

Although Mowbray does not want too many temporary signings, he would like more like Armstrong.

"I hope one or two will come on loan from bigger clubs who will become big players in the team," he said.

"I'm pretty hopeful over the next week or so we'll have some announcements to make on some more signings and the team will get stronger and more experienced."
