Wilson netted 149 league goals in his playing days, chiefly for Derby County, Chelsea, Ipswich Town and Walsall
Nuneaton Town have appointed Kevin Wilson as their new manager.
Wilson, 54, has left Ilkeston Town after leading them to the Northern Premier Division play-off final to take over at relegated Conference side Boro.
"Nuneaton had a difficult season and relegation is hard to take," he said.
"But they have done well to stay in the top flight of non-league football for three seasons. Everyone knows how tough the Conference Premier is, but it's where clubs want to be."

The former Chelsea striker added: "My job is to lay the foundations and build a team capable of getting the club back up there, which will take patience and time.
He becomes Boro's fifth manager in the 14 months since Kevin Wilkin left Liberty Way for Wrexham in March 2014.
Caretaker boss Mark Noon took control for five games, none of which Boro won before Brian Reid came in until the end of the season.
When they managed just one win from their first seven games this season, he was sacked. But the pattern had already been set for what proved to be a relegation campaign under his replacement Liam Daish, who quit at the end of the campaign.
