England batter Jacob Bethell speaking to BBC Test Match Special: "Disappointed after the loss. The middle period where we lost a few wickets affected our whole chase.

"Bowling too, we got those couple of early wickets and they got away again. And it repeated. We could have been a little better on that front. Same with the bat as well.

"This wicket was better than the one we played Nepal on. The bowlers said it was a better wicket. Anything close to 200, we got to get a lot of things right and we didn't do it today.

"It was disappointing to get out when I did. It left us in a bad place."

On his England career: "I am loving it. I love the big occasions. I would like to contribute a bit more than I have up to this point. I am loving the World Cup so far. I haven't played a tournament in international cricket since the Under-19 World Cup."

On the tournament: "We are feeling confident though this is a small speed bump. A lot of guys have played in the conditions in Kolkata. Italy and Scotland are two teams we don't know too much about so we need to do our homework."

West Indies skipper Shai Hope: "I am happy the guys got over the line. It was more of a complete performance and we are top of the table. Roston Chase is a verstaiule player who you can depend on, and it's great to see him come in and get some crucial wickets against England. We have power and depth in the batting and he came in and stabilised the innings for us.

"Sherfane Rutherford has been exceptional in the last few series. It's good to see one of the batters put their hands up for the team. The dew comes down at the Wankhede. It was a little bit wet but not as much which goes to show you can defend scores here.

"Gudakesh Motie has found ways to improve. He's brought some extra things to his game and showed his class this evening."

England captain Harry Brook: "Disappointing. It's never nice to lose a game. But West Indies played outstanding. Everybody knows the power they've got.

"We thought it was a chaseable total for sure but it didn't dew up as much as we expected and didn't skid onto the bat as we expected. But we thought we had a chance definitely."

On Adil Rashid: That's the Adil everybody knows and loves. With his skill and nous, he managed to get his figures down and picked up two crucial wickets as well."

On batters not capitalising on starts: "It's such a fickle game T20 cricket It can go one way or another. Phil Salt had an amazing start. Whenever he gets going, he is awesome to watch. Everyone knows how Jos Buttler is also like.

"We thought spinners would slide on a little bit more but unfortunately it didn't happen"

On their chances: "We have to be confident in this game. We won against Nepal, otherwise it would've been a tricky situation. We play Scotland and Italy next and we have to do our homework and get back to basics."

Retaining the concentration and almost resetting in the middle of an over to give away a 10-run over than a 14 or 16-run over can create big swings. And West Indies did that today.

Between the two teams, West Indies are big six-hitters. They hit 13 sixes compared to England's six. Those are markers that you look between two teams.

Brain-dead cricket from England - trying to win in the match in the first five overs and making poor decisions at key moments. A deserved win for WI.

  8. 'We have momentum'published at 17:17 GMT

Player of the match Sherfane Rutherford, who hit 76* off 42 balls: "I think one of the biggest challenges was Adil Rashid so it was important to keep him out of the game and we backed ourselves, rotating the strike.

"For me personally I have put in a lot of work coming into the World Cup. I trust my process and I can score runs in the end when I play with a clear mind. We were maybe 10 runs behind what we wanted given England's powerful batting but the guys bowled well.

"In these big stages you want to make sure you have the momentum and add 10% to our game. Cricket is a team sport and hopefully other guys can put their hands up next time."

On the injury which saw him go off while fielding: "My finger is good and hopefully be better for the next game."

As a Southampton FC fan and an England Cricket fan, watching sport, its constantly disappointing and probably quite bad for my health. Poor from England really today no matter how well WI bowled. Now all games are must win yet again at a World Cup.

A margin of 30 runs is massive in a T20 game. You thought England would have a chance in this chase against West Indies, but they were undone by the spinners in the middle overs.

It's not ominous for England in terms of position in the group but you don't want to lose games in a World Cup. They will need to learn from this.
