Murray Goodwin gives Sussex edge over Nottinghamshire

Murray Goodwin hit an unbeaten century as Sussex enjoyed the better of the opening day of their clash with Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

The veteran batsman shared stands of 111 with Ed Joyce (63) and 114 with Championship debutant Matt Machan (71) as Sussex recovered from 28-2.

He ended the day unbeaten on 117, with his side closing on 312-6.

Andre Adams (3-79) was the pick of the Notts attack in the only Division One game with nothing riding on it.
