Oxford United midfielder Tyler Goodhram will miss most of if not all of the remainder of the season after having surgery on his ankle.

The 22-year-old was forced off in Oxford's defeat at Ipswich Town on New Year's Day, and has since undergone a procedure.

Goodrham posted on his social media that he "can't wait to be back out there" after a "successful operation" with a photo of him putting his thumbs up while in a hospital gown.

"It's a blow because Tyler has been and will be a big player for this football club," Oxford boss Matt Bloomfield told BBC Radio Oxford.

"He's such a lovely lad and it's a real shame that we won't be able to use him for the foreseeable future.

"We wish him the best of luck with his recovery after his operation."

Goodrham has been at Oxford throughout his career, coming through the U's academy and making 155 appearances for the first team, scoring 20 goals.

Prior to his season ending injury he made 14 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring one goal against Southampton on Boxing Day.
