Aberdeen-born Baillie is a double C2 team bronze winner at the World Championships. He finished third at the 2009 event in La Seu d'Urgell, and replicated this feat two years later in Bratislava.

He won silver in C2 team and bronze in the C2 at the European Championships in Nottingham. He finished third in C2 team at the same competition in 2010 in Bratislava.
