Barnsley held off a comeback from fellow strugglers Colchester United to move off the bottom of League One.

The Tykes took the lead when Conor Hourihane slotted home and Adam Hammill made it 2-0 after latching on to Sam Winnall's through ball.

Tom Eastman hit the bar for the U's before Ivan Toney's header increased the Yorkshire side's lead.

George Moncur and Chris Porter struck to reduce the deficit but Colchester could not find an equaliser.
